¿Sois pareja? ¿Cuánto tiempo lleváis juntos?
"¡Demasiaaaaaado tiempo!"
Nathan y Bárbara se conocieron a principios de enero del 2008, en Wilmington, NC. Bárbara estaba estudiando en UNCW durante un año y aunque vivían en la misma zona de apartamentos dentro del campus, nunca antes se habían visto. No fue hasta el principio del segundo semestre que Bárbara y dos amigas (Nuria y Laurie) tuvieron la idea de dar la bienvenida a los nuevos estudiantes internacionales invitándoles a ver una película en casa de Bárbara (¿qué película? ¡Elf!) De alguna manera, Laurie, su amiga francesa, sabía dónde vivían los nuevos estudiantes. ¡Así que las tres fueron puerta por puerta preguntando a cada extraño si querían quedar!
Ese mismo día (¿o fue el día de antes?) Joe, un estudiante internacional mexicano, se acababa de mudar a su apartamento dentro del campus, donde vivía con dos americanos más –uno de ellos era Nathan, y acababa de invitar a Joe a una fiesta en el piso de su amigo, justo en el momento en que Bárbara y sus amigas llamaron a la puerta. Joe les abrió y las chicas se presentaron y le invitaron a casa de Bárbara, pero desafortunadamente Joe les dijo que su compañero ya le había hecho planes, y PUM, ese fue el primer momento en que Bárbara y Nate se vieron. “Este es mi compañero, Nate” – dijo Joe. Bárbara, de inmediato, pensó “¡¡buenorro a la vista!!” y sin dudarlo le preguntó a Nathan que fuera con ellas también a ver la película, pero como ya habían hecho planes, minutos más tarde Bárbara y sus amigas se volvieron a su apartamento solas. Aunque a ella le había gustado Nate a primera vista, no pensaba que fuera a pasar nada entre ellos y continuó con su vida normal. Nathan, aunque también se sintió atraído por ella, no hizo nada para demostrárselo, así que no fue hasta que su amigo en común, Joe, empezó a sonsacarles información a los dos que se dieron cuenta de que se gustaban más de lo que creían.
Después de varios mensajes de texto de ligoteo, citas para ver películas (poco interesantes) con más personas, conversaciones sobre google maps y dónde vivían y tras un partido aburrido de baloncesto donde realmente les ayudó solamente a ligar un poquito más, ambos se decidieron a ser lo suficientemente valiente para intentarlo, y al día siguiente Nathan le pidió a Bárbara una cita “oficial” donde la llevó al restaurante “Chili’s”. Para Bárbara fue una de las conversaciones más incómodas de su vida, pero aparentemente a Nathan le gustó Bárbara más todavía.

"Waaaaaaaay too long!"
Nathan and Bárbara met at the beginning of January 2008, in Wilmington, NC. Bárbara was studying abroad there for a year and though they lived in the same apartments area on campus they had never run into each other before. It wasn't until the beginning of the second semester that Barbara and two of her friends (Nuria and Laurie) had the idea of welcoming all the new international students by inviting them to watch a movie at Bárbara's house (what movie was it? ELF!) Somehow, Laurie -her friend from France- had found out where the other international students lived, so the three of them went door by door asking random people to hang out with them!
That same day (or the day before?) Joe, a Mexican international student, had moved in an apartment on campus with those two other American students, and Nathan was one of them. He had just invited Joe to a friend's house party when Bárbara and her friends rang their door bell. Joe opened the door and the girls introduced themselves, and invited him to come hang out; unfortunately he said his roommate had just set up some plans for the night, and BOOM, that was the first time they ever saw each other. "This is my roommate, Nate" - Joe said. Bárbara, immediately, thought "HOTTIE ALERRRTTTT" and without hesitation asked Nathan to join them, but both of them had better plans; and a couple minutes later Bárbara and her friends walked away from the apartment. Though she had liked him at first, she didn't think anything was going to happen so she moved on with her life. Nathan felt somehow attracted to her but also didn't make any big moves, so it wasn't until their common friend Joe started pushing things between them both that they realized they liked each other more than they thought.
After many flirty texts, uninteresting movie dates with more people, google maps conversations showing where each other lived and a boring basketball game which led to more flirty conversations, they both were brave enough to give it a shot, and the next day Nathan asked Bárbara out on a "official date" to Chili's! Most awkward time ever for Bárbara, however Nathan apparently did INDEED like her!
